A New Year in Hiking

on Wednesday 01 October 2008 - 10:08:11 | by Jake

Spring is in full bloom, heralding a new year for outdoor pursuits of all sorts.

Here are my plans for ODC Hiking this year:

1) Hiking@Home

Regular day hikes in parks in and around Perth (King's Park, Bold Park, John Forest NP, the hills).  These short hikes should be fun, simple to organise, and serve as a venue to get to know one another and prepare for longer hikes.

2) Overnight trips

Bibulman track, etc.

3) Cape-to-Cape track

A week-long hiking trip.

The first of our Hiking@Home adventures is on this Sunday afternoon (5th October). Meet at ODC boatshed at 2:30pm for a leisurely hike around King's Park, finishing back at the boatshed by 6:00pm.

You will need:
  • Water
  • Strong, comfortable shoes
  • Hat, sunscreen
  • Snacks
  • (Wet weather gear - forecast is for fine but cloudy)
Everyone is welcome to get involved; come along to a hike or organise one yourself!
